Laura Linney is an American actor who has become popular for her portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but she was raised as a single child by a single mom who was a nurse. In the summer, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was initially through Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career after her graduation, and then made her TV debut in the next year. Since then, she's appeared in countless films and stage and TV productions. She has been nominated for three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her time on the stage. Although she received many awards through the years, performing has always been her first love.
